Greyhound racing continues to injure dogs in Wisconsin. In 2008, 56 dogs suffered broken hocks and 15 died from greyhound racing injuries at Dairyland Greyhound Park. State veterinarian Jenifer Barker believes that conditions of the track are causing the injuries, though Dairyland staff say the track is safe.
Considering that Dairyland is a money pit (losing $2.5 million in 2008) and animals are suffering, why is greyhound racing still going on in Wisconsin?

Marcella is a beautiful orange cat with a regal look. Her long hair makes her look like a majestic lion (even if lionesses don’t have manes). Marcella is a sweet older girl that has lived with other cats and dogs. She’ll fit in anywhere. Can you give this princess a home for Christmas? Meet Marcella at the Oshkosh Area Humane Society.

Pinka is a stunning cat with hair as white as snow. She’s the perfect wintertime pet! Pinka was brought to the Dodge County Humane Society with a dislocated hip, but vet reports indicate that she is not in pain and is doing fine. Brave the snow and visit Pinka in Juneau… you won’t mind the winter weather with a warm cat on your lap!
Pet of the Week Update: Lulu and Boo-Boo
I check on my Pets of the Week from time to time and saw that my June 18th picks, Lulu and Boo-Boo, are still waiting for a new home. Just days after my post on this blog, Lulu and Boo-Boo’s Petfinder profile was updated with sad news… Lulu has developed kidney problems. The good news? They are still adoptable! I would add them to my family if I could! Meet Lulu and Boo-Boo through the Happy Endings No Kill Animal Shelter in Milwaukee.
